Help, Need source for G Scale Parts and am on Bubble Gum Budget

Hello everyone.

My dad and youngest brother took off on a hunting trip over the Thanks Giving Weekend. My mom went with them because they were going hunting near where some of her family lived. My Brother Justin and I decided to suprise them while they were gone. and Decorated the house for Christmas. They were plesently suprised when they got home. And then they suprised me. First thing Dad carried into the house was an LGB G-scale Train set.

We got it up and running yesterday and It is very nice. I know that if forwhat ever reason my HO Roster goes up in smoke or something I will change to G-scale because its size is just perfect for my jittery hands.

However Dad was commenting today that Gee he would like to have a few more cars for this train. As it only comes with an 0-4-0T 4 Wheel Tank Car and Bobber Caboose. Crafty me thought. Gee. I subscribe to Garden Railways. I will make some cars for him. But now I have a problem. All my stuff is HO. I need a source of G-Scale wheels and Couplers Compatible with Stock LGB “Hook and Loop” and I have about $10.00 to buy them with.

Can anyone help me?

There is always the HLW kits which sell for under $10 and come with hook and loop couplers.

I have many of their flatcars.

Go here and look at the 150xx series, stsarting at 6.95 street price. Problem is shipping is more than the car cost.

Hartland Locomotive Works, HLW for short, sells a line of “Mini-car” kits for $7-10 each, they come with hook and loops but with plastic wheels. These are the best screaming deal in large scale for beginers. However when to get some they really need to have additional weight added to them to make them track better, the easiest way is to replace the plastic wheels with metal wheels. Bachmann’s large standard replacement wheels are the best as they are often the most common avalible to find for about $12 for a set of 4 wheels so you can do 2 HLW minis. Funny, that’s why I got in to N scale… rather than HO. For G scale, I picked up a LGB porter along with a LOT of model railroad stuff at a garage sale for $8. (It’s a once in a lifetime thing!)

im wondering if i can find the right profile aluminum rail in proper size from any of the many industrial
aluminum extruders. anyone care to share exact measurements of a G scale rail ?

It’s unlikely you’ll see both sides of the locomotive at once, though.
