I have an older 1990’s Atlas S-2 made in Austria that has developed some noises. I want to take the body off to lube the gears but can’t figure out how to do it. Would someone please help me out. Thanks

Bruce the frame is one piece, only the shell comes off. First you have to remove any of the handrails that connect to the shell and the frame. Then push the shell inward right about where the radiator is in front. Then do the same by the cab. You may have to rock them back and forth alittle.
Bruce, If I remember correctly, there’s 2 tabs on the side of the metal frame that protrude into the cab under the side windows, after you take out the 2 handrails on the back of the cab to the frame, you have to gently rock the cab back and forth off the side tabs, once the cab is off you can lift the back of the hood up and off, there is only one tab in the front on the hood, the cab holds everything together. If you go to Atlas online most of the time you can find diagrams that depict the locos and the way they’re assembled. Most new models are pretty much assembled the same only with more detail parts.
Hope I helped,
Brad.
Thanks guys for the help it came off just as you said. Now I can work on quieting this thing down.
