Help Needed Please- N Scale Questions

I am seeking some helpful advice/info/suggestions from anyone who collects N Scale locos, and/or who knows of them well.

Can you please rate from A-D the quality of these manufacturers products:

A= Great,

B= Good,

C= So-So

D= Skip them

KATO

ATLAS, BACHMANN

SPECTRUM

LIFE-LIKE

Locos I am interested in are:

GE Dash 8-40 (incl. all various versions)

GE Dash 9-(all versions)

GE AC44(all versions)

GE 4400(all versions)

EMD SD30

EMD SD38/38-2

EMD SD40/40-2

EMD SD 70(all versions)

other current/newer style diesel locos that BNSF runs(Santa Fe Ran up to merger)

I will list other products and manufacturers if/when I can remember them.

Kato – A

Atlas – A

Bachmann – ONLY get spectrum.Their regular line is crap.

Life-like – I Don’t own any.

I would go with atlas and kato, but don’t forget INTERMOUNTAIN. I have a intermountain SP tunnel motor, it is truly the best I have. I would pass on bachmann and life like, BUT bachmann spectrum might be ok.

These grades apply to all locos for that manf.
