Help needed with track plan

In Model Railroad Planning 2006, Iain Rice has a design called “Gulfport, Yarde & Industry”. On page 25, he states that the design is based on an earlier original bedroom size design, however there is no reference as to where this plan was published.

Can anyone tell me where the earlier design was published as I cannot locate any other reference to it.

It is pretty obvious that Iain thinks that it is available somewhere and I would like to purchase a copy of it.

I have the book put away, but I think it is in his book “Mid-sized and Manageble Track Plans”

there’s no plan by that name in either “mid sized and manageable” or “small smart and practical”

it’s possible the concept came from his “linked up logger” plan which is 3 scenic areas connected by undecorated track sections making the plan easily modified to fit different rooms . but neither the place names or the track layouts are similar to the new plan so i’m not sure

the “chadron, Neb.: high , dry and dusty” from “mid sized” has a similar overall shape as the GY&I .

both books are very good , and worth a look if you’re planning for small to medium spaces

oddly i could find no link to “small smart and practical track plans” nor to anything with gulfport in the name , title , etc in the magazine index

Iain Rice doesn’t really say what the name of the original design was called. I looked through all of my back copies and indexes but coudn’t find anything like it no matter what the name might have been.

I suspect that that the original layout design is still in Model Railroader files and hasn’t made it onto the printed page as yet. They haven’t answered my email on this question,

I like what Iain does and the way that he explains things, how do I get in touch with him?
