HELP NEEDED: Wrench for 2mm nuts

A friend of mine talked me in to remotoring one of my locomotives, The project has been interesting to say the least but I have learned a lot. Now I’m almost done but can’t find a tool to complete the project.

Does anyone know where I can locate a box (open ended) wrench for a 2mm nut? I have some that I need to tighten but am afraid that doing it with a larger tool won’t give me the “feel” for how tight I’m actually turning them and I may either strip threads OR completely break the bolts. A 2mm screw isn’t all that big and the threads are like hairs.

Thanks.

Dan,

Did you check Sears or Radio Shack? They may have the mini wrenches as a packet.

I found these by doing a search for “miniature metric wrench”:

Here is how Goggle can be your best friend.

Shop around. Check their minimum order, shipping charges.

When you find a couple sites that look good, store the URL in your Favorites folder for future reference and to give to others who may have the same question.

It helps to give back to the forum.

I have been looking for the same thing and tried the local Sears and Radio Shack stores. Thay had nothing. I was on the Bowser web site and picked up a good hint. Try using socket head cap screws or set screws. These should be available at your local hardware.

if none of the above work… you can try micromark.

I know they have a mini socket wrench set for 00-90 - 2-56 screws… they might even have a metric set.

You can also search for “ignition” wrenches.
