Help old fart with ladder yard

At the wide end of C andD there are provvision made for two connections. These 2 are widely seperated and not paralelll. What track do you put here? It would be nice if ME wouuld publish clear photos with connections made and each section labeled. This is my first try at a yard. I am beginning to think of going back to atlas. There are parts pictured below this post. Well the photos didnt come through. The wide ends of c and d have me baffled.

You add D to either a C (only one C is required per ladder) or another D if you wish to add sidings. The ladder is finished off with an E which has the odd bit at the lead and is otherwise a normal turnout.

To get an idea how the tracks compare to regular turnouts just overlap a C, D or E onto a regular ME #5 turnout, matching the position of the frogs and all will become clear.

Basically, the C and D turnouts are “cut” straight across the heel of the frog and the matching portion is “attached” to the lead of the D or E as the case may be.

By shortening the intermediate turnouts you compress the ladder.

The B turnout is a regular #5 with the lead cut short and a curved diverging route intended to connect to the lead of the C. Usually, the B will be opposite hand to the ladder track turnouts and you can use the regular A instead if you wish.

You can build a ladder without reversing the hand of the first turnout but it will be quite different in that case.
