I need, absolutely need to know where the red wire in the picture on the P2K GP30 goes. I don’t see any connections where it should go.
Please help me,

Red wire SHOULD go to one of the trucks. Check to make sure all truck wires are intact.
Mark.
There is one black wire going to each truck. I don’t think it goes there because it is not long enough to reach.

Whoops ! - sorry, jumped the gun. [banghead] Just went and checked my Proto unit … it appears as though they use a small plug with which the wire is grounded through a hole to the frame. The peg has probably pinched the wire enough that it broke off.
Mark.
Thanks a ton!!! [tup][:D] That’s probably what happened because the wire looks broken off.
Thanks a Ton Mark,
-Andrew

What weight are you using in your locos and stock? Your signature pic looks like that train has really warped the baseboard…
That looks like a Stock Proto frame and weight. the reason why it looks warped is becuase of a bad picture.
OMG I forgot I put those 10 lb weights in there.[oops]
Just kidding
The picture is not taken on my layout. It is taken on a product called Sport court. I play roller Hockey so that’s why I have some of those tiles.
woops misunderstood your post. The pic in my sig is a real picture from saluda.
If you get stuck let me know, I plan on installing a decoder in one this week sometime so I’ll pull the weight off and see where it goes. From the looks of it it runs down the drivers side of the weight and in behind the motor, thats all I can see with the weight still on.
Southern - Crushes the south!
Must be some of those new proto-mass locos that I heard Walthers was putting out!
I found where it goes. if you look real close in the picture on the left side of the loco there is a screw ther and that is where it goes.

Interesting. I never knew some Proto engines had grounding wires. What to they do, exactly?
