ok heres the problem, I am a total idiot [#wstupid], I got 3 Athern AC4400’s (2 powered and 1 dummy) in KCS and CP colors. Then I tried to paint over them several times and as you can imagine made a mess of things. i can’t even see a lot of the details anymore [D)] is there anyway I can save these things and get all the paint of including the factory paint or am I up the creek with out a paddle
You can strip the paint off the shells and start over. I usually use 90% isopropyl alcohol (70% will NOT work). Remove the shells, then take the window glazing and anything else you don’t want to get wet off them, and put the shells in a closed container full of alcohol. I use a glass pickle jar for this. Go away and let them soak.
Over a day or two or three, this will remove most model paints, leaving you with a plain shell. Take a soft toothbrush to the shell to finish it off–there won’t be much paint left.
Next time, use light coats of paint. It may take several coats to cover evenly. Be patient.
Search within the forum on the topic of “strip paint” or “remove paint”- there have been multitudes of answers to this given before, in much more detail than I could off the top of my head.

Thanks guys I thought i was in trouble for a second
Easy Off oven cleaner is the best paint stripper I’ve ever used, and I’ve tried a bunch. Just use plenty of warm water, dishwashing soap, and an old toothbrush to clean up with.

The Easy-off works.
Interesting- I’ve never had trouble painting over models that already have paint- just use light coats.
