Last Christmas the traction tire came off the MTH PS1 4-6-4 Hudson Steamer I was running. I just got it out for this year’s display, rep;aced the traction band, and ran it. Unfortunately the traction band does not want to stay on. The steamer is about 8 years old and this is the first time I’ve had to replaceone. The replacement came with the original box. Whadda I gotta do to keep this on? Staple gun?
Rubber cement will work. A good rule of thumb. Put one on one size smaller than it requires. [REF: *** Teal’s Modern Toy Train Repair and Maintenance, buy a copy, worth the $$] I did that on one recently and it is still on where the replacement that came with the engine threw the first time I ran it. I figure the reason it threw both was it was pulling an extremely heavy load. The smaller size has stayed on for a long time pulling that same heavy load.
Chief you forgot one thing; a very small amount of rubber cement. Put it on the wheel with a toothpick.
Just wonder if you are referring to Walthers Goo ? If so, many Hobby shops carry it .
Chief, Buckeye: so you recommend that I don’t use the staple gun?
DJ,
Go ahead and use the staple gun and let us know how it turns out. Post pics!!!
