Help Wanted Ad: Steam Locomotive Fireman.

Don’t see this everyday…see below…posted 3/16 on RYPN

I am looking to hire a full time fireman as of May 1st. This person must have experience as a steam locomotive fireman, preferably with firing oil, but do not hesitate to respond if our experience is in burning little black rocks. The railroad in which you would be firing on has a fair amount of 3+ percent grade, so I would like to find someone with experience in mountain territory.

Job Duties

Fire locomotive

Assist in maintaining locomotive

Assist in the restoration of other locomotives owned by the company

Assist in the restoration of the heavyweight coach collection owned by the company

Pay is based on experience

Medical insurance is available after the first 90 days with the company.

Please respond by email if you are interested with a summary of your experience with firing a steam locomotive and your all around steam experience, along with a description of other skills you may have in which you might think would add value to my team. I will also need your contact information and a list of references.

Thank You,

I’ll fire the durn thing in exchange for three solid meals a day and free tours on the engine. =)

It would be very interesting to see who comes out of the lost era of steam and climbs back into the cab once again.

i have fired a steam locomotive years ago befor i started on csx…but it was a coal fired engin… and a “hand bomber” (non stocker equiped) but unless your talking paying me what csx pays me… and moveing expences…no can do…lol altho i do miss fireing a steamer…
