Help! Where can I get Am Flyer O Zephyr replacement drivers?

Bought a ‘restorable’ American Flyer prewar cast aluminum Zephyr set at York TCA last week.

the main pinion gear distorted and took out teeth on the drivers. These are black centered, wide flange steam loco drivers, about 1-1/8" diameter (wheel, not flange).

Anyone have an idea of where 2 geared drivers could be found? I got the pinion gear at York, but thought the geared drivers were OK. Also need a manual reversing switch (the fiber is distorted, so contact is marginal at best.)

Thanks in advance

Regards

Jim

Contact Model Engineering Works. (870) 887- 6009. They have several AF Zephyr parts. You can see a list online at http://www.geocities.com/modelengineeringworks/amflOguage.html.

You could also try jeff kane of train tender Jeff@ttender.com

My Dad’s A.F. Z did the same thing.

You will need to count how many teeth there is,or how many is suppose to be there, because there are two different tooth counts on the gear.

And is it the cast aluminium or sheet metal ?

We had one made for my Dad’s and if those other places mentioned don’t have what you need email me and I’ll get the information for you (I have misplaced my parts list [:I] ).

And the replacement gear works and probably is enginnered better than the original.

You might also try this company, they have a lot of AF parts.

Thanks to all.

MEW had the parts.

By the way, my unit is the cast aluminum unit. I’ll post a picture after I shine it up. Can’t wait to see it running!
