I’m Sick guys! One of my Favorite engines took a fall onto the concrete floor today and the pin on the tender that attaches to the Loco broke clean off the tender! Man! I could just cry about this!
It’s a Bachman Undec 4-8-2 Light. How is Bachman for getting parts from. I was going to try and fix it, but the pin is long gone.
Any Help out there?

I think the Bachman Warranty is void for such damage. For the Pin, which I expect is cast on to the loco frame, you may have to get another frame, or tender.
I have had some problems w/ drawbars in the past. I just drill and tap for a 00-90 hex bolt, and hook together that way.
Well, on the bright side, you do have good taste. Go to the hardware store and find some very small bolts or machine screws, like 2 or 2.5 mm. Drill the hole where the pin went all the way thru, insert the new screw, install a nut on the bottom to hold it in place, and cut to the right length. I suppose if you were really ambitious, you could tap the hole, and screw the screw in thru the drawbar and have them permanently coupled.
Or, you couild send it to Bachmann and they will fix it for a price.

How did it happen? Did the loco derail? If it was a derailment, you should trend (lift) the side of outter edge of the ties. A two millimiter distance is enough to make a good effect and cause a more realistic railroad view.

Bachmann will repair it for a charge of $25 regardless of what the problem is, and free if it is a warranty repair. Actually, they will just throw yours in a dumpster and send you a replacement. Check Bachmann’s Web site for details.
Throw them into the DUMPSTER?! **Clutches heart and drops to knees.
I lost the screw holding the coupler on the tender for my USRA 4-8-2. I called Bachman & within 4 days I had a replacement at no charge. I was very happy with their service. PS - it’s a great engine & pulls well

When I typed up this post yesterday I was just heart broke about the whole thing!
But a very good call on the screw for the repair! I wasn’t even thinking going that route, but that could work great. I could also grind it down to make a true PIN and leave enough threads on it for the attachment to the frame.
As to why this happened, All my Fault! I forgot to throw a turnout back, and then this end of the layout is WAY too close to the edge. The Front truck caught the turnout and over she went. It’s too hard of a lesson to learn this way, and at 49 years young you would think I’d know better! I guess we all make mistakes.
Needless to say, I’m heading to the basement now to fix both ends of the layout so this won’t happen ever again!
