Has anyone installed a decoder and speaker in a Rivarossi Allegheny with the PC board and socket in the boiler?
Which decoder did you use and where did you install the speaker? I guess you had to run long wires from the decoder (in the boiler) to the speaker?
Has anyone unsoldered the connections to the PC board and moved it to the tender?
To Charles: I checked my Allegheny, the PC board and socket are in the boiler.
Thanks for your help,

Jcopilot - here’s a link to a short writeup about how I did this on the Allegheny. It includes some photos and parts list. BTW, this was on the production run before the factory installed DCC came out. Really was very straightforward, and with the big tender there’s lots of room to work.

Hope this helps

WMshay06,
Thanks for the reply and the link. The write-up is really helpful. I was told that the socket for the decoder was in the boiler. I’ll have to take my tender apart and look for myself. Certainly, the socket in the tender makes things a whole lot easier.
Thanks again,
