help with heisler maint.

Jst got my first riv 2 truck heisler. It dosen’t look like it has been run in a while. Though it does test run fine i would like to do a complete oil job. I have the ho seeker webpage but it didn’t show so my question is where should I lube this model at. Also the cab roof seems loose does this come off to access the motor? Any info on this cool model would really make my day. I would like to convert it to dcc and use it as a modern day excursion train.

thanks

Mike

any help? Please

Oil whatever moves.

Phil

That pretty much sums it up.

Use SMALL amounts of lube. Over-lubing tends to lead to electrical problems.

Be especially careful not to over oil the motor.

Rotor

Yes, keep the oil away from the commutator and brushes. A tiny drop of oil on the bearing at that end will be enough.

Is this the old or new version?

I owned one, sold it. Have some heavier gear lube for the drive boxes, the middle spinner can be light lube, throw some lube wherever pistons go inzies and outzies, if you open it to get to the motor, oil it at the bearing spots. Plastic compatible lube all the way.

If this is not a recent DCC ready Heisler, making it dcc is not as simple as larger rod locos. You will need a very small decoder. I hope your model came with exploded drawings to help you get inside where you need to do the rewiring.
