Help With MRC Diesel Sound Box

Hi Guys I bought this today not knowing it had not come with instructions need help! There are 6 colored wires not sure with 2 are for the speaker and which 2 are for the power pack ,much help thanks

Carl…

The blue and green wires go to the speaker, the red and brown go to the accessory terminals on the power pack under DC, to the DCC unit track out in DCC, and yellow and white go to the track terminals in DC, not used in DCC.

If you’re running DC and the prime mover sound doesn’t step up with a throttle increase, instead remaining at idle, reverse the yellow and white leads, or the direction control on the power pack.

Strange MRC used to have a “Resources” page at their website with downloadable instruction manuals. The direct link to that page is now dead and looking at their revamped website I could not find any “Resources” or other support type page with downloadable manuals. That’s a step backwards by MRC.

I bought on of these a few weeks ago, like mentoined above on the wires. I also did not use the speaker that was supplied but took 2 speakers out ov an old portable radio (had the same ohm rating) and hooked them up one on each portion of my HO layout. The sound is much better. If you want a copy of the instrustion manuel let me know and I’ll send you one.

Thank You so much guys ! ill mess with it again when i get home tonight,
Thanks again.

Carl…

I have the MRC sound box-diesel. I didn’t like the supplied speaker so I hooked it up to a 4 speaker system. The speakers are hidden inside structures on my layout. You should see people trying to find where the sound is coming from. It’s a real hoot!

“The sound is coming from the trains, ya maroon. What did you think, there’s a flying carpet in there?”

I found this link on the MRC site.
