Where can I find good info or help with a PS 2 engine?
I’ve had it for several months running it with no problems at all. Tonight some friends came over and wouldn’t you know it, it dies on me. It just came to a stop and throws the transformer into the red. The only thing I’ve done recently is put the NiMh battery on a charger for a full charge last night and putting some Lionel smoke fluid in the stack. It’s one of my favorite engines and would really like to get it running again!
Any help on the issue or where I could look next for good info, would be greatly appreciated!
Is the loco tripping the transformer?.. The engine may not be on the track.
Is the loco totally dead(no sound smoke, ect) or is it just not moving?

Sounds like you may have a track that has lost power at the center rail, the PS-2 loco’s are fussy about losing power on the track and may need to be restarted if you have the DCS system. I have an MTH PS-2 steam locomotive that has given me some problems and I have found that the problems are due to interrupted power supply to the center pick-up shoe on the locomotive, at some switches it used to stall on me and at uncoupling tracks so I removed the uncoupling track rather than have the locomotive at over half speed around the track.
I bought the MTH battery charger for my locomotive and use a Z1000 transformer by MTH for power, and have the DCS TIU unit, to the MTH PS-2 loco and have no complaints other than bad track sections.
Try these suggestions before going further and think that you have a warrenty issue.

As the train was going around the track it stopped the transformer as if there was a derailment. I checked all wheels which were okay. I’ve narrowed it down to the engine itself. When the engine in on the track and I turn up the transformer, the tranformer is tripped. I’ve checked all the wheels but there is nothing on them that I can see would trip the fuse. I think it’s something in the electronics. Looks like I’ll have to send it in and pay for it to be fixed. 
I was hoping maybe I could fix it myself before I send it in.
If you’ve got a warrenty a store will fix it for free.
No warrantee, I bought it at a train show. Can anyone refer me to a good shop to send this too? I’m in Oklahoma City but there’s no one around here that fixes MTH trains.
