Help with NCE Power Cab

I’m in need of what is probably a simple answer. Is there another way I should be shutting down my Power Cab other than unplugging the power, or unplugging the cab? I looked thru the manual and this forum and did not come across an answer.[sigh]

Nope. There is no ‘shut-down’ procedure that I’m aware of. Just unplug the PowerCab from the panel when you’re done using it.

I know it seems strange but it I guess that’s the expected usage. I’d personally prefer a power switch on the panel - and you could build one if you wanted but I guess it’d amount to the same thing as unplugging in the end.

If it is a concern then you could plug everything into a surge protector and use that switch. I’m not sure that’s any better. I think you’re not supposed to leave computer equipment on and flip a surge protector switch - at least that’s what IT types at companies I’ve worked at have told me. Who knows if they’re right or not [;)]

I just unplug the cab. If the wall wart is plugged into a switched outlet just flip the switch. It makes no diference.

Thanks for the help. I used the Power Cab this morning for the very first time and was not sure how to shut it down. Seemed wierd just “pulling the plug”!

Jay,

I do what Michael and Pete do and plug everything into a power strip. Mine is on the side of the facia board at one end. One click of the toggle switch and the Power Cab, Smart booster and all the lights on the layout go out together.

I have two wall switches on the layout fascia. Power goes to the light switch and then to the track switch. that way I can shut off the track for working and leave the lights on but when I leave and turn the lights off I know the track and etc. won’t be left on. Thats my way, but what ever works for you is correct.
