The only problem with the Athearn GP50 is that it is temporarily out of production. Also, I have looked into it, and as far as I can tell, GE has not made a locomotive with “430C” in the model number. With both of these locomotives, I am assuming that the kid wants them in the BN paint scheme. Lastly, if I have interpreted #2 correctly, the kid wants a layout. This will most definitely cost over $100. The only way you could get around that is to cut the quality and have a simple loop of track on a piece of plywood and a power pack. That whole “layout” would cost about $50, maybe even less.
Just my two cents.

I’m not sure about the other items. There are GE locos with an alphabet soup of letters and numbers–U30C, C30-7, C44-9, C40-8 or Dash 8 C40, so I’m not sure what “GE 430c” could be. I think Athearn made a U30C, maybe Atlas. I’ll try to find out.
