Help!

I’m getting back into trains after a few years away. I am interested in the C&NW for modeling but I can’t find an engine roster. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

What time period are you looking at ?

Thanks man! That Utah Rails site is awesome! I’m modeling them from late 80’s on and here’s a twist-CNW bought UP in my twisted little sick world! Whaddya think?[:D]

Might want to talk to Carl Shaver on THAT one !!![:)]

Who? Sorry but as I’ve said I’ve been away from RR for a while! Why do I get the feeling now that I’m an EMD in a ALCO world? LOL

I’m Carl.

What an interesting rewrite of history that would have been! I honestly think that if we had bought the UP, instead of vice versa, there wouldn’t be the operational nightmares that currently exist. UP has the annoying habit of not listening to its “victims” until it’s too late.

But UP had the money…

I agree with Nanaimo73, look at utahrails.com for a CNW roster. As you obviously know, you might want to check UP’s roster too because the UP acquired the CNW! Hope that helps!

Utahrails.com good site. There’s just one little issue for Braund91… The “CNW bought UP in my twisted little sick world” . So Braund91, how are you going to renumber all those UP units?? Was the SP included in the purchase??

One additional piece of info… CNW GP-38 4708 (now UP ???-I forget) is a unique engine in that in can run on battery power (for working indoors) and also a HEP (head-end-power) unit for emergency commuter use.

Happy holidays,

I would check UP.com for their roster. It should list the repainted and renumbered units. The Utah Rails site should get you all the retired units.

Thanks a million guys! Yea the UP units would be repainted and re-numbered. One reason I wanted to do things this way is because there are already a few guys at the model RR club I belong to that model CNW who have extensive engine fleets and I thought it’d be silly to see two of the same number engine on the collective layout plus I miss the Northwestern.

I’d include the SP and also parts of the BNSF in the “merger” just to throw some more variety in it. Any other suggestions?

Can you have the Milwaukee Road buy Burlington Northern ?

I’d like to see someone model the Wisconsin Central buying the CN. Then, paint the CN engines barf orange and gang green. Wait? Aren’t those BNSF colors?[(-D]

If CNW bought UP, then the Little GB&W bought WC AND CN…and STILL stayed All ALCO…

Heck…ALCo is still alive in my world, producing Century 660’s and and they are #1 builder in MY world…I wonder what an C660 would look like!

DRAWING CONTEST!

Lets have the DMIR buy EVERYBODY!!! mwahahahaha
oops, got a little carried away.
BNSF never ran engines on the C&NW, try BN.

Thats one thing I do plan to do-I have 2 U28B’s in BN that are gonna be “CNW-Y” units. The “-Y” signifies yard only duties.

Who ran the SDP 40? I found one and am not sure which roads had them for merging purposes.

GN got 6, which went to BN, and BNSF. NdeM got 14, some are now TFM.

Thanks again! Now I know what to do with that loco.

How about a suggestion for a “new” paint scheme for this hypothetical merger?

Uh… I know, GREEN AND YELLOW!

I would love a world where that happend. On second thought I don’t care about the mergers I just want the Milwaukee to still be around.

Yea the Milwaukee stayed around. It expanded eastward and south. Goes from Fond du Lac, WI thru New Orleans. How’s that work?[^]
