I am looking for an Athearn dummy locomotive. Either a F7 or GP9 in Union Pacific colors any ideas Thanks Larry
How far are you from a hobby shop?
Try eBay.
Go to http://www.walthers.com/ and use their search engine. One of the more popular rr’s and two of the most common locos - should be dozens of choices!!!
One suggestion - don’t use “help” as a title - many of us ignore such a broad title to a thread - maybe “help finding a UP loco” would be better.[:)]
Lou,
Going to Walthers website won’t help one bit. Perhaps you’ve forgotten that Horizon now owns Athearn and Walthers isn’t a distributor for Athearn now.
Don Z.
The F9 should not be to big of a problem at you LHS, they Might have some new old stock in the BB kits. The GP9 though, I have noticed that these are starting to dry up somewhat at LHS and even Ebay. You still see them, but not as much since Athearn did away with the GP9.
Don, Oooooooooops!![D)] http://www.horizonhobby.com/New/ is the Horizon site - they have a bunch of Athearn locos there!!![:I]
Walthers does not distribute Athearn engines any more. Horizon will not allow it. They are the sole distributor of Athearn products. Walthers has had ‘special runs’ made up by Athearn every now and then.
A review of the current Athearn web site under ‘Blue Box’ kits does not show any F’s or GP’s available at this time. As others have mentioned, eBay might be your only choice here. If fact I sort of suspect that Athearn may not be making ‘dummies’ anymore as well.
