I am new to this forum and really know very little about model trains. I have a friend that has several Lionel train sets (some dating back to the 1930’s) that he would like to sell. I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea of how much each is worth and also any advice to go about selling them. Thanks!

Hi lionelnewb (ie), it highly depends on the shape the trains are in. Never run models with good boxes can fetch high prices, and battered post and prewar engines go for an apple and an egg.
I would recommend browsing ebay and see what others ask or fetch for their trains. It gives a nice idea of what it could be worth. There is nothing else to say about it, selling trains highly depends on what people want to pay for it, and how bad someone wants that special item you offer…
