With all the changes of today. I hope that model rail roading is a art and hoppy that will persist for generations to come.
Gidday, [#welcome] to the forums.
I am not going to comment on whether model railroading is art or not, excepting no matter which side of the fence you’re on it should be FUN. It is also a Great Hobby and though, where I am, the rain is currently falling, the sky isn’t. [swg]
Cheers, the Bear.
Welcome to the forums.
As long as those of us in the hobby keep introducing it to future generations, some of them will take up the interest and keep it going. I’m not having much luck with my grandchildren, but have introduced some adults who have grandchildren that have shown interest.
I think the biggest drawback is that many of us seem to be closet model railroaders. Don’t be afraid to open up. Since I did, I have found several folks in my area that have some sort of layout or plans for one.
Have fun,
Richard
Well,The sky falls a lot along the Ohio River…That fog is so thick you do well to see the end of your car.
I always hated to drive and work in that fog…
Larry,
I was going to ask,Bear, seeing as how,he is down under, whether the rain is falling,up or down…[(-D]
Also being a truck driver most of my life,US and Canada,I agree, about the fog issue, even fog lights, sometimes, don’t help…
Cheers,
Frank
The hobby is dying and nearly dead.
That is why I have sold my entire layout to an investor in Fuji in exchange for high yield War Bonds.

Gidday Frank, depends whether I’m standing on my head or not, as long as it doesn’t end up in my cuppa tea. As for fog, unpleasant driving conditions no matter where, though I should add that fog is far more substantial than Richs Fuji War Bonds.[swg]
Cheers, the Bear.
[sigh]
I’ll bet this thread turns ugly and gets locked…
[zzz]
LOL
Aren’t we half way there already?

Couldn’t agree more. I posted a picture of my son’s layout in the photo gallery. It’s still on the first page. His name is Dominic and all his friends come over to see it. And he’s showing them how to run the trains. They love it. He went to school the other day and they had a show & tell. He brought that picture and a model steam engine. That next week, 7 boys were in my basement checking out his and my layout… Stick with it with your grandchildren. They will come around. I’m sure of it

Should have put your money in collectible silver coins. Nothing will be more valuable to starving people in a post-apocalyptic wasteland than a coin with the WTC on it.
I recently learned (so MANY things I don’t know, and a few I know that aren’t so…) I learned that there is a waterfall in Hawaii called Upside Down Falls. A stream runs over a ledge and instead of falling down, it falls UP. (Strong updraft…)
