Hereford Cattle Color

I have a bunch of unpainted herefords and does anyone know what that reddish color would be? Name and manufacturer if possible?

The ones I have were made by Campbell many years ago and came in the same color. I just added white spots to them of various shapes and sizes. Surely there must be pictures on the net for inspiration

Oh, yeah, there are pictures, but I am trying to find out if someone else has gone through the process of finding the color. If push comes to shove, I may end up with black baldy cattle instead of herefords.

A couple of years ago, I donated 1500 photos to a historical archives, and they posted some on their website, including shots of Texas cattle. But these are NOT herefords, I don’t think.

Those are Texas Longhorns, not Herefords.

Roof brown w/ a dab of rust or red will get you quite close. As for a straight color out of the bottle you should check out Craft paints, hundreds of colors to pick from.

Use cheap craft paints, shades of red and brown, take a paper plate and drop some of each color on it and dab away don’t clean the brush between dabs so no color is to uniform. After they’re good and dry, go back with some white and paint your white spots in any random order. When dry, hit with a flat finish, when that’s dry an a&i wash to highlight. It’s not a precise art here bearman. mike h.

You’d have to go close by mixing burnt sienna with green

and I’d suggest you add some of that to the white so it isn’t too stark.

Lots and lots of cattle produced today are crossbred; might have a purebred bull of one breed doing the honors with a purebred cow of another breed; or a F1 hybrid. It is quite specialized…

But, one of the more popular types of cattle one sees in pastures around here are white faced crossbreeds; basically black bodies with white faces. Search google images and you will find all sorts of colors and markings.
