Cta in chicago, is renaming the Cermak Line. Kids from the area are aloud to enter a contest (k-8) naming the new color and why it should be called that color. The grand prize is 1,000 dollars, and all contestents who pick that color that won, will get to ride the very first train that morning. I’m entering (i’m in sixth grade), and i hope you do to.
I don’t think I qualify… I would be in something like the 26th grade now. (Just three more years until I graduate from Medical School!!). Anyway, I’m thinking something in a Pastel (think spring!).
Of course the redneck sitting on my other shoulder says black with the number 3 on the side all cars.
Hey Weez, here’s an old goat who’s glad to have you on the site! Bring your friends and start hitting the Classic Toy Train and Model Railroad sites. And tell your folks to buy you a train set or two. Welcome aboard!
Well I know what color I would choose and it is blue, which happenes to be my favorite color. Actually if you want to get technical I would choose C&O blue. But, since I’m currently in college, and live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and not in Chicago, Illinois I don’t think I qualify.
Yes, it is good to see youngsters here on the forums, we need more kids like you WEEZ!
Sorry, Sarah, one of the qualifications is that it has to be a color not already in use by CTA–and that rules out blue, along with red, orange, yellow, green, purple, and brown.
(Operationally, I don’t know why they don’t make it the other end of the Brown Line.)
Oh Lord that makes me feel OLD. I haven’t been in the 6th grade since 1957. Eisenhower was Prez. Sputnik was launched. It was International Geophysical Year. The first transcontinental flight of a Boeing 707 in regular passenger service was a year in the future.
Seeing as to how I haven’t lived in the Chicago area for about 10.5 years I doubt I qualify (although age wise I’m barely in being an 8th grader). If I did have to choose I’d have to go with good ole’ black and white to celebrate the 2005 World Series victory for the Sox (once a South Sider, always a South Sider [^]).
checking with the CTA website, the new line was formerly a branch of the old Blue Line. THe new version makes it a branch of the Lake Street Green line. It may go the wrong way around the Loop to be a part of the Brown Line.
It appears to go near the new United Center. It should be called the Bulls/Blackhawks Line. Black on Red. MJ sould be the engineer. THey should build a station for all home Bulls & Blackhawks games!
