Here's a prototype Incentive to try Metalizing!

Hi guys!

I felt this was worth posting here on our modelers forum. It’s a short YouTube clip, but wow! [8D][:D]

It’s clips like these that help make me fire up the airbrush and continue to metalize those classic Budd and Pullman Standard streamlined cars! (Smitty, we’re still waiting on your Santa Fe varnish!)

Of course, photos like these help a great deal too!

That is a good video. the clean shine on the cars reminds me of the Nebraska zephyrs from years back. I notice the strange looking diner on that train with a porch. was that customizd by Bnsf?

Perhaps one of the guys here knows for sure.

I could be mistaken as the graphics display on my computer has grown darker, but to me it looks like a Pullman Standard corrugated lightweight with a heavyweight style observation platform section fabricated on the rear.

Vaguely resembles the Budd observation car from Kato: http://katousa.com/HO/Business/index.html

I wish CSX had something like that here on the east coast. [;)]

much obliged. the kato car would be nice for my business train.

Neat find. Love that BNSF shine.

This photo always blows me away. 1971 with one day before Amtrak and, apart from some silver truck over spray, this Santa Fe sleeper still looks immaculate:

Palm Sleeper

Hi guys, here’s another good vid with a very good view of Budd stainless steel sheens. You Canadians out there have my respect when it comes to VIA taking care of its passenger train equipment.

It resembles the Kato car because the Kato is based on the CB&Q business car “Burlington” which later became a BN business car and then a BNSF business car. The two open platform cars are probably “Mississippi River” and “Missouri River”
