I re-read my last thread and was horrified at my spelling mistakes. I came off as “unliterate”. How about a spellcheck for this group!! For the record, I did finish the 8th grade!!

The older I get the fatter my fingers become thus I use Word to compose my posts and do a copy and paste. The Word spell check works pretty good.
I also copy and paste picture links to the word document, that helps me load the pictures to my posts. Regular links work good that way too.

Well, the “old” version of the forum had a spellcheck, but the “new and improved” version we enjoy for quite some time now does not.
So much for progress!
Spellcheck would be useful, however it does not always come up with correct word. Sometimes with funny or unintelligible results.
My main problem is I often see what I meant to type, not what I actually did type.
When I first typed this I post I spelled “unintelligible” wrong. I copied the incorrect spelling into Google and came up with the correct spelling which I pasted into the post. Usually works, however doesn’t work if I am too far off. Sometimes I eventually find the correct spelling, other times I use a different word.
Still I cringe when I read an old post and see the mistakes that I missed.
I also have a problem with the both the reply and edit wondows because of their size, it is difficut to see enough of the post to keep things straight when I make changes, so I often end up with misplaced words and sentences.
edit 1 After posting this, I saw several errors, which I corrected. Hope I got all of them.
edit 2 Found another one.
It’s odd the mistakes I make and the ones I don’t. I almost (95%) always leave the r off of your until the first edit. I know the difference between there and their but my fingers seem to have forgotten. Editing sometimes brings its own errors.
I never write breaks when I mean brakes.
Howard … That’s a great sugestin.
The problem is that Kalmbach has bought a “package” program to manage this forum, and the new package did not include spell check. Not likely that this colud be added
I make sure my spell check is correct. I also re-read my own posts to check for sentence errors. Since my kindle’s keyboard has spell check and I try to use fancy words but I can’t seem to start and finish. So I use easy words.
As Ulrich correctly stated, older versions of the forum software had the spellcheck feature but this one does not. Your only options are:

How come that spelling and typing errors only appear once I have hit the “Submit” button? [:$]
I thought browsers came with automatic spell check but somehow it doesn’t work on this forum. I wish it did because I hate the hassle of having to cut and paste from a word processor. But spell check can’t fix everything. Mistake will be maid.
…even after rechecking it 2 or 3 times BEFORE hitting it. I feel your pain, Ulrich. [(-D]

One can use a voice text app. It usually spells things correct 95% of the time. It will confuse words like (two, too, and to) so you still have to go back and manually edit things before you post. I still find it faster than typing. This system works really well if you’re not a good typer, and also very well if you are prone to making spelling mistakes.

I use Grammarly as my spell checker. It’s quite effective at correcting not only spelling errors but grammar and punctuation.
Pardon me if I voice my doubts about this! You will join me once you have watched this:
This all reminds me of a comment I heard several years ago:
“For someone who spent three years in the seventh grade, you ought to be smarter.”
Funny stuff Ulrich. [(-D] It reminded me of Benny Hill’s humor, only a little cleaner.

I suspect they used a poor company, low budget, kid in his bedroom, to upgrade a few years ago. Spell check went away and I don’t recall the powers to be making any comments.
I use an Open Office App to spell check for me. Copy and paste into the message. About the same as MS Office.
I have a tendency to reverse a couple letters at times. teh instead of the is a small example.
Seen this discussion before.

. Howard, I don’t care about your spelling. With the way Twitter, Facebook and other social media is today no one else should care either. What I care about is the thought you put behind your questions, responses and of your modeling. Auto correct or spell check to me is worst than doing your own thing.

I have a high ediucation and never could spell, grammer sucks too, good thing I never got a job that requires a lot of writing.
