my oh my these rails are getting rusty after just several weeks! Spikes are ½ X 19 wire nails and they’re getting rusty too! All the rust is real, no faking with paint or powders. These are the real deal.

bought a cotton easter (background); these have red berries in the fall and flowers in spring; best shrub out there!

buds on the mugu pine are shooting up

scene along the multigauge mainline (32 and 45 mm)

end of line until construction resumes, rails still silvery, not yet rusted

I like the multi-gauge!
Have you tried the Atlas Nickel Silver rails outdoors? I’ve been toying with the idea of an O-gauge outdoor layout too.
Kurt
yes, thanks; n/s works well. I tested tubes 3 years to see how far they deteriorate before applying. they rust but takes longer than I thought for them to rust all the way thru
rust makes for great traction
donations of rusty track, contact me
I’ll take all the 027 ties and insulators off your hands if you still have them.
using the ties for windows

nothng goes to waste
Dave - neat! And it’s still 3-rail!
Thanks for the post. Always thought of running the trains outside when (and if I ever) move somewhere that I may be able to do so.
Just wondering…do you think the guys on the ‘Garden’ railways forum may have ideas on rust protection? Anyway, good luck.
if you want rust protection, Atlas makes nickle silver track suitable for outside in 3 rails with UV protected ties; Gargrave might as well
Dave,
Great work, like the pictures! Only thing missing is a beagle.
Really neat, Dave - keep us posted on the deterioration!
