One of the two westbound Amtrak California trains through town this afternoon (I think it was the Chief but I am not absolutely sure) had two Amtrak ExpressTrak cars on the rear end. This is the first time in well over a year we have seen this on these trains (they have normally been coming in and out of town with ZERO rear end traffic for well over a year). They other guys with me expressed the same puzzlement over this. We all thought Amtrak had discontinued using ExpressTrak on its trains…anybody know what is going on?
Amtrak has a contract that requires part of the service to continue until the contract expires.
Whatever the story is it seems it began just this past week. I saw them Friday afternoon
passing thru LaGrange. Grandson even metioned we ain’t seen those in quite some time.
Also saw Amtrak dragging some business? cars Tuesday,about five,one labeled Fred Harvey?
I saw one in late 2006, so it can’t have just started back up…
