I recognized your layout on the Cover of How to Build Realistic Layouts before I saw the caption.
My apologies if this has come up before. I was out of town.

Thanks, Chip.
I took the cover photo and all the article photos with my Rebel XT digital camera – 8 megapixels.
Has anyone tried the downloadable free video PDF yet?
Hike…–**–…(Punt)
Gee, now I know exactly what you thought, in great detail, with no misinterpretation possible … [swg]
I thought I’d seen that picture somewhere before. Nice going, Joe.
Chip, hike? Punt?
Clue me, I’m lost.
It was on page 3 with no comments.
OK
I’m really lost here. [%-)]
What downloadable free video PDF?
And Chip, did you get the blue pills mixed up with the yellow ones again?
Nope, I only do blotters now.
Ahhhh, like a bump, gotcha. Good move.
Page 15 of the new Realistic Layouts issue tells how to get a free downloadable video that demos the steps in the article. The download uses a variation of the Information Station PDF, but with a “video PDF” format. This new Information Station Video format shows a how-to step-by-step with still images and captions just like you are used to seeing in any PDF.
What brings it all into the 21st century is you can click on the still images in the PDF and a video plays, showing you how to do that step!
You guys are lucky, I’m still waiting for my issue to come.
I still haven’t seen mine! I’ll bet the mail man is reading it first. Does it come in plastic? I wonder because my mail man says Model Railroader doesn’t come in plastic . Odd also he says the automatic sort machines at USPS sometimes fold the corners too.

I think that my wife is hiding mine. She is always claming that she would do so. J/K she knows better

Someone over on my Siskiyou Line forum asked a great followup question about how I ballast my track.

I spoke to soon about receiving my issue. It was on the table when I got home. Joe, I loved the article–it gave me some great tips. The cover and the first picture of the article made me so antsy for your next video on scenery to come out.
Question: Is painting the rails with a brush a better way than using an airbrush? I was convinced to use my airbrush but after reading this article, not so much now. Joe, what are the benefits of brushing on the rust color?
z:
I prefer hand brushing … the way I do it I have lots of control and it goes fast. If you download and watch the video you will see that I load up the brush with color and can cover 12" or more of rail in a couple minutes with the brush. You use the right sized brush and only a litte color will get on the tieplates.
I find using the bru***o be very relaxing. [swg]
An airbrush would be harder to control.
It’s also worth noting that I only paint the *front side * of the rail unless you can see both sides of the rails at that location. No need doing more work than necessary. [:D]
