Hey trainfreek92.....

Since you’re doing New England, that makes us practically neighbors! I freelance, but my prototype that I base off of is the Belfast & Moosehead Lake RR. It has a great history and it is tightly tied to the MEC, which should be of interest to you.

Just thought I’d give you a link to some info on the B&MLRR. You could even learn a thing or two about the MEC…

See ya neighbor! [;)]

Hey Pcarrel thanks for the link will go check it out as soon as I am done typing this relpy!! I actually took a train ride on the B&MLRR in the summer of 04 we went down to a little made up town they had. The track was in deffinet rough condition though. I went back to Belfast last summer and have found out that the tracks are being removed (gone) Did you no that??? Buy Neighbor!! Tim

hey cool site why did they take up the tracks??? I wi***hey did not[sigh][sigh][sigh][sigh]

Ready for this? They took up the tracks, turntable (the only working Armstrong table east of the Mississippi) and all because the former owner didn’t pay his mortgage. He owed, now hold on to your hat, a total of just over $600.00!!! A bunch of us here could have pooled our money and owned a RR!

The real deal is that Belfast is in the middle of a waterfront rejuvination project and so the land was worth millions. It all comes down to the almighty dollar.

As far as I know the only place that lost it’s tracks is Belfast. The Unity station and roundhouse are still there. What’s left of the line is supposedly being upgraded and extended, but they’re going to modernize it and change the nome, so the Belfast & Moosehead Lake is dead. Oh well, it was only the third oldest continuously operating line in the U.S., what’s 163 years of history anyways, huh?[B)]

The tracks that were taken up, along with the TT, were taken to a nearby RR museum to be used again there, but I don’t know the name of it.

My Grandfather was a conductor on the B&MLRR for years, so it’s always held a special spot for me. I’m sorry to see it gone, but it does live on through modeling I guess.[:)]

BTW, her’s some other link’s you might be interested in that I stumbled across;
