Hey

Hey Everyone,

I’m new here. I’m new at railroad photography in general, too.
But if you want to see my photos, click:

[:D]A big welcome from me and everyone else.[:)][8D][^]
Railpictures is a very good picture site, i go there all the time.

Hey Alaskaman,

I see in the “Young Railfan” topic that you are 16. I’m 15. hehe
Anyways, I was just wondering, what’s it like in Anchorage? Because I know that many people think we are covered in ice and snow the entire year here in Canada, which is not true. People tend to think that about Anchorage, too. But is that so?

i know how you feel.
You know its kind of annoying when people from the lower 48 states ask
“Do your igloos melt during the summer?” We ain’t got no igloos. During the summer it’s pretty warm (record this yr was 84 deg). during the winter- which is dark (5 hrs of daylight) and long its about 21 to 40. Last winter however was very warm ( like 45) and we had little snow. Its bearable. And very beautiful.
Right now its about 46.
And besides, have you heard of PFD? Its when money from the oil revenues is distributed to Alaska’s 600,000 residents every October. This year its $1107.56
So we get a thousand bucks for just staying here[:D]

Oh…that’s lucky.

We get no PFD, but that’s probably because Ottawa is perfectly fine to live in.
But I wouldn’t mind getting a thousand bucks.

Those are great pictures! Keep taking them! I am 18, but live in the lower 48 so I really cannot relate to you, but I am aware that Alaska is not always covered in snow. Anyways, I am fairly new to the sight too, so keep exploring because there is a lot to find on this awesome sight!

WOW

those are AMAZING pictures!

if only i had my digital camera every time i saw a train
Montreal seems to be train heaven.

Hey ICEtrain! Great pictures! I’m into railroad photography myself. Haven’t gotten any of my stuff on the net yet. It’s always great to see another young railfan on here. Plus it’s nice to see that you’re a fellow Canadian, too. I know what the stereotypes about snow are like. Me, I’m from Saskatchewan, quite close to the Manitoba border. Say, being from Ottawa, have you met Cretien? Ha Ha

Hey Joe, does it feel like the canuks are starting to crowd US out . LOL [:D] ( Hi Kev. ) [8D] I’m really starting to wonder about those guys up north. What do you think??? [8D][:p]

Thanks for the warm welcomes and kind comments. My photos still need lots of improvement, though.

kevinstheRRman, I plan on going to Montreal sometime to take photos. Ottawa is not good for railfanning at all!

Sask_Tinplater, nope, never seen him, except on TV.

Lots of Canadians here, eh? hehe

Hey ICEtrain, great pictures.I think it’s great to see young people interested in railfanning.Keep up the good work!!! Don

Hey ICE,
Go to the title page of this site, scroll down, left bottom, see photo of the day.
Click on the editor’s link, and send him photo #29613 from your site.
Great shot!
Its the one of VIA 915, aug. 30, 2003.
You have a good eye for composition, just one hint.
Try to get lower or higher that “eye level” to add a little visual interest to your shots.
If you get a chance to look at the photo of the UP3985 for todays photo of the day, you can see I had the camera at rail head level, to make the locomotive tower over you even more in the shot, adding to the impression the machine was overpowering you.

You do good work, keep it going!
Stay Frosty,
Ed

ICEtrain Hi, Howdy, Hey [:p]

Welcome to the site, we are all looking forward to your first star.

When you go east look Kevin up and tell him I said to give you a “ride” in HIS loco. [;)]

Your pics are good, keep up the good work. [:)]

ALEX , sorry to hear you are homeless. If Duchess had a dog house I would loan it to you. But she hogs my bed instead.

Score: Alex 1 Jim 1 Its a tie game. Now for the tie breaker . . .

nah I’m happy to share with anyone! [:)]

I know, I just couldn’t help getting a little jab in for fun[8D][:D]

Let’s assimilate marty everyone! (AKA drailed1999) we can turn him into a partial Canadian!!

Thanks for the tips. I’ll try that next time.
