heyy everyone come check out my new website!

check out my new website this is a railroad that i made up comment this topic and tell me what you think!!!
http://www.freewebs.com/flagrr

Keith, that is a very nice website.

From your questions and comments on the forum, I knew you were a youngster. Nothing wrong with that because you are mature enough to participate on the forum. In a short time, you have really learned how to work with forum members and they have learned how to work with you. I hope that experience continues to grow.

Now the anally-retentive part: You have the start of a great website. What you need to do is learn your spelling, punctuation capitalization and syntax. Your text is very readable (see example below), but you have quite a few mistakes in all of the above. If you leave it like that, everyone who reads it will know it was done by a “kid” and may not take it seriously. Work on your usage of the English language. That one thing alone will give your website some polish and sophistication. NO ONE would believe a “kid” published a website with such professionalism.

Please don’t take this personally. It is not meant to hurt you or belittle you. It really is to encourage you to set high standards for yourself and maintain them that way. Guess what? You do that for your website, you will do that for everything you do, including your model railroading.

Example:
Can you read the following sentence?

Wehneevr fursrtotain dveleops, defaet it dicesevily.

Hard to do, isn’t it? All the letters are correct, but the spelling is wrong. The first and last letter are in the correct locations. The human mind can make sense of this because it recognizes the word starting with the first and last letter in the word. But OH, what spelling!

This is what it should look like: Whenever frustration develops, defeat it decisively. Not only does it look better, but it also is easier to read.

Hope this helps. Whatever you do in life, do it well and do it often.

Darrell, quiet…for now

Reminds me of the old Steve Martin routine about teaching his kids to speak wrong, “Mambo dogface in the banana patch…”

heyy thats not very nice thnx for the diss

Great website. Keep working at the trains and website. You show more potential than a large number of people on these forums.

Keep up the good work
Harold

You did a really nice job on your little layout. It looked like a lot of fun. Do you still have it? If so, it’s a great jumping off place for expansion. That guy above didn’t really need to preach to you. Anyone who’s 13 and makes a website is trying very hard to do it right, and you will only get better. No one is perfect, but you’re obviously really enjoying the hobby, and that’s what counts.

I wasn’t trying to ‘preach’. This is a bright young man with a lot of ambition. He needs encouragement from all of us ‘oldies’.

You know as well as I that there are MANY people out there who will look at his website and trash it because he’s a ‘kid’, and as EVERYBODY knows, this is an ‘adult’ hobby. “We are NOT ‘playing’ with trains, we are serious adults with a serious hobby.” BS! Prejudice is prejudice, no matter where it crops up. This young man does not need to come head to head with that kind of thinking.

This ‘kid’ knows more than I do about websites. I may know more about the English language. I offer him suggestions, so maybe when I need help with a website he will respond to my needs.

Encouragement comes in many forms. A pat on the back is appropriate, congrats on a job well done, etc. And constructive criticism is also encouragement unless it is done maliciously, in which case, it is not constructive!

Keith, keep on doing what you are doing. In the short time you have been posting to this forum, I have seen mature growth in each of your postings. You are headed in the right direction. Doesn’t matter if you are 13 or 31. You really must be enjoying what you are doing. Were it only true that I had that enthusiasm again!

geoeisele did make a good point on your layout picture. It looks like it was done very well and could be expanded if you still have it.

My opinion, which is what you ASKED for in the first place, is what I stated abo

Anytime, Keith. I really do admire what you are doing.

Nice web site. The leaves are kinda distracting though. Kinda hard for me to concentrate on reading. It still looks really good, though.

good advice from Darrell, the chat in these forums is passing and can be abbreviated or just bad eglish, but a web site should be polished as it grows.

Hi, Keith.
Just spent some more time on your website. I still like what you are doing with it, but I have to agree with GearDrivenSteam about the leaves. The tile background pictures are neat. Is there any way to use multiple pictures in the background? (Remember, I know NOTHING about setting up a website!)
What are the surveys for and how does a visitor use them?

Keep going!
