Hello all, been away for sometime (family matters, sickness, holidays, etc.). Thought I’d stop by and say hello. Hope you all and all yours are doing well.
In other news, the OL and I have abandoned the idea of converting our garage into a Train Room; after a study of cost we found it would cost us around 4k to get it all done ouch, so we have put that on the ‘someday’ shelf and moved to use one of spare bedrooms, a great benefit because of the central heat and air.
Got turned onto Iain Rice and his work and books, readying some of his stuff now, love what he has to say. Looking forward to putting some of his sagely advice to work.
Will try not to be such a stranger, and post a bit more now that I’m feeling better. Hope all had safe holidays and good times.
Hey grandpa… good to see you back! The website looks great. I wish I had created one from the very beginning of my layout. It’ll be fun to watch your project unfold!
Chip,
I’m enjoying his work a lot he has some fascinating and inspired ideas and concepts and its all a great boon to me now that we have lost so much space in the Garage to Spare Bedroom downsize.
I’ve been in your situation before; I had to wait almost 4 years after moving to my current house, before I could invest in a decent heat pump for my garage. That used up all the money I would have used to put decoders in all my locos, but at least now I have a train room (no “spare bedroom” solution for me, my kids still live at home).
Hey grandpacoyote, wondered where you have been. Good to see you back at the forum. You may not have as much space but having the heat and airconditioning available is not a bad tradeoff… By the looks of your web site, you should have enough room in the spare bedroom to do some serious model railroading. Keep us posted on your progress.
