Hey everyone, I got me a question While I was at work today moving and re-parking buses getting them ready for tomorrow. I looked over at the Cp rail tracks that run right behind my work place. I was looking at the MOW trucks sitting there. on the side tracks. But anywho with the trucks sitting out in the cold weather how would the maintenance crews get them started to go and repair a track if they needed to get them started in a hurry. From my understanding they are not plugged in to keep the fuel warm like we do at work to keep the diesel fuel from gelling over in such cold weather. Does someone or somebody come out from the railroad daily or weekly to start them up or how does that work. Thanks for any input
Most folks in northern climes put an additive in Diesel this time of year to help prevent gelling. Our fire trucks are obviously parked inside, but we still use it, and the school bus garage (where we fuel our trucks) does the same.
