Hi-Speed Rail--Las Vegas to Disneyland.

Proposed Hi- Speed Rail link, 200 miles per hour, 90 minutes travel from Las Vegas to Anaheim, Ca. around Disneyland; would apparently be based on a current Chinese design already in operation there.

According to Fox News, Senator Harry Reid is behind it, has already spent 7 million on study, and wants more, up to 200 million for design and construction. Apparently he has refused to comment publically, but has the legislative vehicles in place to make it happen.

Any thoughts or ideas out there on the Forum? Is this going to be a boon or another boondogle? Is a monorail to be considered a railroad? Would any here be interested in?

Is it gonna be based on the Cinese design based on the Japanese design, or the Chinese design based on the German design?

Don’t hold your breath.

Chad:
I’ll leave that Western area to you, I know very little of So Cal as was only out there a few time, and in a truck, so it wasn’t too pleasant. But from the commentators I have heard on this project, it seems like Sen Reid of NV has got a plan and the juice to make it happen, even if he does not want to talk for publication about it. I would guess that anything, short of nuclear warefare, that would take traffic off the roads out there would be a blessing.

Have no idea of the design on the Chinese monorail, but I would guess that it would probably trace back to the German monorail demonstrator of some 10/20 years ago, and I am certain that it has morphed many times since then, and versions exist all over the map. Are there any in the UK?

Just talked with a friend today who flew a non-stop to Vegas from Rockford, IL., and then drove four hours to see relatives in LA. Was cheaper and faster and less hassle than going through O’Hare and LAX. If the Chinese can build a railroad at 12,000ft, can’t we…

You know Amtrak was thinking of running a train a while back. They tried it with 2 F59PHI and a couple of Surfliner cars, but I guess that it wasn’t good enough. I saw pictures somewhere, and I’ll have to try and locate them again.

Okay I found it. It’s from this website:
