Calepy86,

And Your question, (question’s) are?

Well, welcome, but watch out for the BIG CATS!

Hi

I think you mean that you have a Bachmann NFL train set. Which I believe is one of those Bradford Exchange items.

Now that you have a trainset there is no need to overpay for the additional items that Bradford will try to sell.

It could also be from Hawthorne Village. They have sets of NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. I have a Hawthorne Village Green Bay Packers train, and a village full of the buildings, that are issued one about every two or three months, if you subscribed to it. My daughter got me the subscription for a Christmas present in 2004, and I finally cancelled the subscription in 2008, as I had plenty of everything, and more dome cars than I could use. This set is now the main part of my Christmas train set that I put up when it’s our turn to host Christmas Eve, as the main theme of the whole set is winter/Christmas. You can find these trains in any auction site, and not be part of a subscribtion. If you have the subscription, you eventually have to stop it, because it goes on for ever. With each building, they send more track, or another car, and they are expensive!

The good part is that the trains are nice, cars detailed nice, about equal to “Spectrum” qaulity, and the locos are Bachmann “Plus”. which run great, quiet and smooth. The trucks and couplers on the 85’ dome cars take an 18" radious with no problems ( lots of overhang).

By the way, excuse me for being rude! and welcome to the forums!

Mike.

This is apparently it…

It does say “From Hawthorne Village.”

calepy86!

Welcome to the forum!![#welcome]

You didn’t ask any questions but I’m sure you will have lots of them as you work your way into the hobby. Don’t be afraid to ask, and if somebody tries to put you off by saying the question has been asked before, or tells you to do a search, please ignore them and post your questions anyhow!

Dave

I actually do have one of those Hawrhone Village sets. My wife wanted the M&M Christmas set so I go it but I still think it was overpriced. Anyway they kept sending cars untul we finally asked them to stop as the train was too long. Anyway it sits on top of the China closet along with our wedding train and the walthers subway set.

Hawthorne Village train sets are horrendously overpriced, cheap Bachmann train sets that have just been custom decorated. Usually, one single add-on car costs more than an entire train set if it carries the Bachmann name instead of Hawthorne.

Welcome to the forums.

Enjoy your NFL train, you’ve got it, enjoy it. My son got me a Red Sox train starting back in 2004. Kept getting stuff (birthday, father’s day, Christmas) until a car for the win in 2007. Don’t know if they’ll put out another new car or not. Since I only have a small layout, it chases it’s own tail, but it’s not on the rails much.

I will agree that the cars need a little tuning up to perform well, but they can be used to improve your skills at whatever they need.

When you get going in the hobby, come back and ask questions. No question is stupid if you don’t know the aswer. The folks here have a broad range of knowledge. You will often find several methods to do the same job. Usually none are wrong, just work better for some folks. Try a couple of the ideas, then pick the one that works best for you. You may even find in different situations on your own layout, one method will work better than the other.

Have fun,

Richard

Did we scare of the OP? We’re not that intimidating, are we?

Bogp40,

[:)] He’s probably overwhelmed, with welcome’s.

Not counting, ‘‘The Lions and Tigers and Bears’’, that greeted Him. [dinner]

I would assume this is a young person who is just proud of his first train. Please remember your first train. You didn’t care if it was top quality or where it came from. We were all just happy to have our own train to run. All the refinement and details will come later as you enjoy and learn more about the hobby.

Well if it is a young person, proud of his Bachmann train, and wants to join in, I’m sure cacole’s friendly and encouraging thoughts on Bachmann trains has him beeming with pride!

These are Bachmann “Plus” locos, and they run great, and all the cars have metal wheels. My Christmas Green Bay Packer Train will run all night during our family Christmas Eve celebration.

Mike.

EDIT: You can see it running on my You Tube channel, scroll down to the bottom of the list, it’s the 2009 version. I’ve changed it since then, it’s now a double track, and the siding in the middle is gone.
