Hidden staging

I’m planning a pair of eight track hidden staging yards which I would like to control with tabletop switch machines. I’m using Fast Tracks jig built switches (HO) . I like Tam Valley’s servos and brackets…any thoughts on mounting them “upside down” beside the turnout? Anything else come to mind?

To mount them upside would be pretty easy, just need something to space them up off the surface since the moving part is right on the end. Or you could lay them on their side, and bend the wire down a little. Or put them right-side up, and bend the wire in sort of a Z shape, with the vertical being straight up and down. Lots of ways to do this.

When I was planning some low-clearance staging, I acquired but never used some of Scale Shops screw-drive switch machines. They’re low profile, so might be an alternative to servos.

Thanks for the replies guys. I’m sure I’ll get it figured out!

LION uses Tortoise witch machines. In some places I mount them on the table edge and use 1/16th" welding rods to transfer the motion to the switch points.
