Is here a good place to view trains crossing the span in High Bridge KY?
You will not find anything out on this website to view trains in that area.

The last I heard, the bridge was unuseable,
but the Blugrass Railway Muesum was in
progress of refurbishing it[^]

I believe that you are thinking of a different bridge and not Highbridge. The one that the Bluegrass Railroad museum goes to is not High Bridge. I believe that they call it Tyrone. I do know that is the town down on the river as well. NS still uses Highbridge and I think also that there may be a tourist center there. My grandparents have told me that they used to go there years ago. And I believe that you could walk across it years ago as well.
I can email you some photos of the bridge at the Bluegrass RR museum if you would like. I didn’t know if you are from that particular area or not. But I do have a few photos if you are interested.
Also just recently NS abandoned or will be abandoning the track on the other side of the river from Lawrenceburg KY all the way to the bridge next to the Wild Turkey Distillery. I have a map that shows topo areas and it says that it is abandoned but I think just recently it has or will be.
I have walked across that particular bridge on the Bluegrass RR Museum and let me tell you it was different. They say that it is 2 feet higher than the golden gate bridge.
As for train traffic I don’t believe it can support any. That is what I had heard about that. But I heard also that they had planned on getting it where they can hi-rail it.
That particular bridge sits between Anderson County and Woodford County.
The Highbridge sits between Jessamine County and Mercer County between Nicholasville and Harrodsburg.

Thanks for the web site Brian. It’s cool. I have seen other photos of this paticular piece of railroad and also had a conversation with a railfan from Marion OH who was there last year and mentioned that there was some sort of lookout or pull off that was safe from the local police. I will be passing thru in the next week or so and will let you know what I saw and will post some digital info as well. Sounds like you live close.

I am from Grant Co. I have tried to get my profile updated but it won’t show up on the forums right.
I am fascinated by the bridge there on the BGRM. It is so huge. I also have a great aunt that lives in Valley Station in Louisville. Along with some cousins. Most of my family came from Eastern KY (the most beautiful part of the country)

Eastern Kentucky is the best part of the state[:D] if no one
likes that part, shame on them. Is the Bluegrass Army Depot
still headquartered at Lexington(Avon I think?) I was under the
impression they stored some equipment there until the facility:I
was built around Versailles. I do know that LBAD’s main facility is
in Richmond.
I’ll be looking for the pixs, I will appreciate them.

My topo map shows that the Bluegrass Army Depot is just east of Richmond. I There is a facility in Avon just east of Lexington. I am not too familiar with either.

The name of the bridge is “Young’s High Bridge” This will clarify any info that I had posted earlier as well.
That is the website for the railway museum. They have some old equipment sitting on a siding around Milner KY. I do mean old. It’s really more junk. They are trying to sell some of it. But their museum pieces are nice.
