Highrail layout backdrops

Hey Gang! Can you advise me on what site I can go to to look at some backdrop scenery for my train shelf I built 1 foot from my ceiling? I would like to use some structure that are only 1 inch deep or so. But, I would also consider a border paper of some kind? What do you think?

Thanx,Marty

Marty,

What kind of back drop are you looking for? Walthers and DPM make backround buildings that can be narrowed to suit. There are dozens of backdrop scenes available from desert to city. Walthers make a drawn cartoonish backdrop set 2’ x 3’ that can be cut to fit. Faller make larger backdrops that are pretty much noticably European. Backdrop Warehouse have on line a large selection of photos they can print to fit for you. Realistic Backrounds have a series of photos a little bigger than 1’ x 3’ in a variety of locales.

Probably the best solution is to get a backround photo and then build a series of flats and minimum depth buildings to get an impression of real depth. Hope that helps J.R.

SceniKinG is another good option.

Thanx GMT, I see you are in Danbury. I live in Prospect. Great Hobby store over there “Railworks” and I love the DRR.

Anyway, Thanks for all the advice. I would prefer a city/Industrial scene. I have the walthers catalog and cannot find the shallow structures. I will try the backdrop method of prints insted of buildings and see how the cost plays out.

Thank you,

Marty

www.sceniking.com offers city/industrial scenes that span from just over 9 feet for N scale to 26.5 feet for O/G scales.

http://www.sceneryexpress.com/aboutus.asp a neat site for backdrops!
