Highway crash causes delays for California light rail line

The commeents do not seem to reflect the a ryicle.

The comments were made when the headline suggested two incidents, the accident & a “trespass”

What was the “Trepass” incident?

Ummmm. The other half of the story please?

Two trucks collided on the eastbound I-210 freeway; one truck and trailer was overturned, blocking three lanes of traffic. The force of the impact sent the second truck and trailer over the K-rail onto the Metrorail tracks that run along the center divider of the freeway, taking out a section of the overhead power line and landing right on the eastbound tracks, with the truck bursting into flames. I suppose this could be considered "trespass;” it was definitely a freak accident. This segment of the freeway was completed around 1976; the old AT&SF single-track right of way was moved to the center divider at that time, to be converted to double-tracked light rail about 20 or so years later. This was not the first time a vehicle had been flipped onto the tracks due to a collision on the freeway, but was certainly the most damaging and disruptive time. Have to wonder if the current design needs some modification to prevent a similar incident from reoccurring.

A later version of the story is that a tractor-trailer carrying a road grader apparently blew a tire and lost control, clipping a dry van which also lost control, hit the right-side sound wall, and turned over. The big-rig went through the left-side barrier onto the light-rail tracks, hit one of the power poles, and caught fire (which was quickly extinguished by the fire dept.). This is the second or third similar incident that I am aware of; luckily none of the trains have been hit so far. Obviously, a more robust barrier needs to be installed. As of Monday night, crews are still repairing both track and overhead wiring.

Talking heads in the media need to learn how to restrain their tongues before quickly hyping up a story like this just to gain attention. A case of engaging the tongue before the brain.
