I was wondering what media I can use on craft foam to make white and yellow road lines? The foam is black in color. Are there ink pens available that would work for this? I thought of chalk, but thought it would be too messy. This is on an N scale layout.
I just started my first layout, N Scale, last year, so I am by no means an expert. But I found some dry transfer Woodland Scenics stripes at a sale. I bought both white and yellow stripes. I tried them, and I got good results.
They don’t transfer perfectly, which makes them look even more realistic. I am not good at weathering roads yet, so the surface looks too perfect, but I’m learning.

I would try a “China Marker” on the foam. They are available in white and yellow and should do what you want.
Thanks to all for the ideas. I am going to try acrylic paint pens for lines. I made my crossing pavement markers using the Gimp image editor and printed the result on light paper.
I still need to add a few lines to it for it to be finished. I couldn’t find durable decals or a stencil for n scale for this item.
Or this time, either. What are you using for a photo host? You can’t use a site that requires a login (like Facebook or MR’s User Photos area). And the image address has to end in .JPG, .GIF, or .PNG; if it doesn’t, you’re not posting a photo, you’re trying to post the web page that contains the photo. Read the sticky thread about posting photos at the top of the MR General Discussion Forum to figure it out.
