Hijacked!!!

I’m getting really sick of this crap!

Apparently MB Klein’s web site has been hijacked by a search engine. I can’t get to the stores web site. It started last night. I’m getting SO tired of doing a search. Clicking on a link only to be taken to another search page. Click a link on THAT page and get another search page.
I’m getting sick and tired of these bogus search pages.[soapbox]

loathar–

I clicked on and a message came up warning me of some security problems with the sight. I wonder if a Hacker’s been running around?

Tom

WTF? It works just fine for me. Takes me to MB Klein, and I can look through their stock like usual.

Do you need a time-out?[swg]

loather, your post was only a few minutes old when I clicked on your link and Klein’s website came up perfectly. Don’t know what your problem may have been but as an ex-computer programmer I can tell you that all programs can and do have a few vagaries in them - we call them ‘bugs’ and we are not talking about critters that get caught in relay contacts.

Yea, I just tried the link. It’s working now. Did anyone notice the anti-hacker software “sticker” in the upper left? They may have just gotten’ it up and running.

It works fine for me.

Loathar, I think you may have been hijacked. Check for malware or spyware…your own browser is acting up.

Edit (add) - try CCleaner, free, and clean up your temps and recycling in about 35 seconds…really spiffy. Then, use Spybot or Adaware and find out if you have “issues”. With some kinds of infections, your own detection software can’t actually find the problem. You may have to go to the mother site and get their system to check you out on a remote.

I just clicked it and it came up. I think you have gar-bage in your PC.

I use Firefox with a Linux operating system so I never see that stuff.

When I use to use Windows 98 I used Firefox only. IE cam be a real issue. I had a couple spyware/adaware utilities I picked up off fthe 'Net that took care of those issues along with antivirus software.

Also, I do not store any cookies or 'Net data on my PC. Everything gets wiped as soon as I close Firefox.

I am not bashing Microsoft. It got me to where I am at now. You just have to be aware of the dangers of using a PC without adequate “Protection”.

Rich

I’m using Firefox on XP Pro. I have two free anti-spyware/anti-malware programs that I use. One is Spybot, the other is Yahoo Anti-spy. I have no spy-ware or mal-ware issues.

Well that’s strange! It started last night. I get some bogus search site called Modeltrains.com.
First thing I did was a virus and spyware scan. Nothing came up.[%-)][%-)]
What the [censored]!! I can’t access their site. No matter what I click on I get that search site![banghead]

What’s REALLY weird is I have 3 computers here and their all doing the same thing???

If all three are equally vulnerable, then all three should be suffering the same problems if their supplying servers are the same.

I just went in with no problems. Works fine.

Bill

Worked fine with IE 7 and Vista.

Loathar

It sounds like a browser redirect. I had one and had a heck-of-a time getting rid of it. I normally use Spybot but neither it or my AV software couldn’t detect it. Everytime I did a Google search and then clicked on one of the results, it redirected me to another search site.

I downloaded Super Popup blocker and voila - it found and deleted it. You may have to try several of the suggestions here until you nail it. I feel your pain.

loathar.

I just tried it with Netscape Navigator on Vista Ultimate. No problems. Loaded within 3 to 4 seconds. could it be a problem with your ISP??? [alien]

Blue Flame.

Loathar, it’s not spyware, adware, any of the stuff these people are suggesting.

In the “short”, it’s a “DNS” issue with how computers point to one another across the internet to pull up the right site. Mine was doing it as well.

It’s not your browser or your computer, it’s at the level of your internet provider or perhaps even a level or two above them.

Thanks! I just talked to the IT guys at my DSL provider and they said they’re having the same problem at their main office. He called it a DNS issue too. He pinged the system and said it went through 23 nodes before reaching MB Klein. He said what’s really odd is that it’s working for some people. He said usually it would affect eveybody that tried to go there. Glad to know it’s not just me!

I stand corrected on this issue. It has happened to me but I have a way to correct it that it is second nature.

I was just at a Yahoo news site reading an article about a female race car diver when a small window pops up witha yes no question. I ignored the little windows and read the article. I then tried to go to another mrr forums an was directed somewhere else like lothar was.

My Firefox browser is set up to block pop ups and clear all cookies, history, passwords and private data when I close the browser. I have an extensive Bookmarks section, in IE, called Favorites so I do not need the other items to get back to a particular site.

I closed the browser and clicked on the mrr forum URL and I was ok. It seems to have something to do wih cookies.

Spammers know many people are clueless and do not clear the cookies, histroy and use the cookies and their history to get back to a site they like.

Hope this helps.

Rich

I’m on Verizon DSL and it directs me to the “search” site.

Funny because www.modeltrains.com always takes me to Canadian Model Trains, a legit dealer in Ontario. I accidentally mistyped and flipped the l and the e the first time I typed it in and got another site.
