Hiring on the Alaska Railroad

Would like to know if anyone has had the experience being hired seasonal for the Alaska Railroad? What is the chance to be a permanent worker?

I have applied for a seasonal position and my family would like to move there. Weather is not much different from Minnesota.

There is a noticeable difference in the amount of trains that operate in the tourist season versus the winter season. I suspect that you would need to have whiskers to work all year, unless some of the veterans want winters off.
