Historic New York subway cars to operate during holiday season

I remember riding the subway (IRT) in the early 1960s. Most still had open windows! This ought to be a fun event for nostalgic riders.

Wish I could ride! Was on the IRT the night JFK was killed. People were crying and sharing grief in a way I would never have expected of New Yorkers.

Remember those cane seats?

Rode those R-1s many times while I was a student at Fordham University…from mid-town to the Fordham Road stop in the Bronx on the D train. No A/C in those days, but they were warm in the winter.
