HO 2-6-6-2 by Model power

Hey all!

I have been debating for a while on a new engine to get, and the mantua HO 2-6-6-2T and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with one. I’ve heard everything from horrid to excellent. I was hoping some true experts had any ideas. [8-|]

I bought one of the Mantua Classic 2-6-6-2’s not long after they were released.

I opted for the GN version with the tender that was dcc ready.

It was very easy to convert to DCC, runs well both slow and higher speeds with the can motor.

I would not discourage anyone from buying one. They are bit scarce on detail but that is easily fixed.

Thanks! I still view myself a novice, and that was rather helpful. thanks a lot![:)]

Hi

I looked at this as its not wildly expensive like some but it would need a very large layout…

Was thinking about the undecorated one so I could label it the way I wanted.

The questions I would like answered are when was this loco in real world service?

and whats the haulage capacity like?

and which railroads used it?

regards John

It is not that hard to look for the information yourself

this pretty well covers it

Mantua scaled up the real world engine to make it standard gauge, i don’t know anything else other than that.

Micro Mark was flogging the earlier versions of these for about $90 just two years ago. Take a look at the newest edition’s price. [:|]

I have the 2-6-6-2T and I love it. The only thing is that the drive lines may pop out and it can be a pain to get them back in.

What do you mean by drive lines? like the shafts from the motor?
