HO Alco DL-109 diesel passenger locomotive

The paragraph leading with the description of the headlight starts well but gets muddled when trying to describe the circuitry
to transform it to DCC, which I am interested in and need direction. Otherwise the article was verythorough and interesting.

Who else built an HO model of the DL-109? BTW the Proto one is a GREAT engine.

GM&O had two DL-105’s (the only two built), not DL-107’s, which were purchased in 1940. The GM&O later purchased a DL-109 in 1943. They were all fast runners and geared to run 120mph. Passenger service was discontinued south of St. Louis on the GM&O, in 1958, and the DL’s were put into freight service, so they can be used for either, freight or passenger service. They were traded to EMD and scrapped. No DL’s were preserved from any railroad.

Hallmark built a HO scale NYNH&H DL-109 in brass (square roof fans), and they built a DL-109/110 in brass. Hallmark also built a N scale DL-109 painted GM&O colors with the wrong headlight. New Haven Terminal built a DL-109 in the late 1990’s, but are out of production.
Overland built brass N, HO, and O scale DL’s, to match the prototype railroads and have the correct nose and headlight arrangement. MTH has built a O scale DL-109 and DL-110 for various railroads in 3 rail. Some are 1 headlight and some are 2 headlights, but not as accurate as the Overland’s, yet more affordable.
