Ho amtrak stainless steel amfleet II/amcoach II

Does anyone know where I can find any stainless steel Amfleet II/Amcoach II passenger cars? I would prefer them to be like the cars seen on the NEC Regional trains and in their current paint scheme.

Also where can i find an ho scale Amtrak cab car or any cab car would be fine (if any exist)

Like this one? http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/160-13109

Walthers reportedly is out of stock, but you can click on the above page, another link is provided showing hobby dealers that have received these cars within the past year. You can contact them to see if they still have those Amfleet units in stock.

Of course, ebay is another option. http://cgi.ebay.com/Bachmann-HO-85-Amfleet-Acela-Regional-Amtrak-NEW-/110569845788?pt=Model_RR_Trains

Yes, just like that one. How ever it would be helpfull it it was a stainless steel like the superliners.

However if thats not possible then i guess i’ll have to suffer with th cheap plastic model.[swg]

Now that leaves me with one more question, Anyone know where i can get a cab car?

They don’t make em, or at least, not yet. You’ll need to paint them yorself (Psst: Antnio, tha would be a cue for one of your Alclad threads. )

Bachmann made a Metroliner (amfleet) in the 80s I beleive. It has a cab car. prototype picture of a Metroliner, [url=http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.trainweb.org/asamtrak911/model/cabcar/smleftside.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.trainweb.org/asamtrak911/model/cabcar.html&usg=__9Qc2aRJkLm5TqmsHgmTlVW37TTA=&h=100&w=150&sz=5&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=n_bSiv_UZoPVKM:&tbnh=80&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3DMetroliner%2BCab%2BCar%2BBachmann%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26biw%3D1579%26bih%3D691%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=382&vpy=270&dur=168&hovh=80&hovw=120&tx=61&ty=63&ei=MH5bTOLfO8ah4Qb717DvAQ&oei=MH5bTOLfO8ah4Qb717DvAQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=30&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0] modelling an Amfleet Cab Car out of a Ba

OK, Flashwave - will do.

Re: Stainless Steel

Hobo,

I had assumed that you saw my recent thread on paint metalizing passenger car shells. Here is the link:

http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/p/177174/1944763.aspx#1944763

Below is a pair of Bachmann Metroliner shells I did 2 years back. At this stage they appear “too shiny” as I had not clear coated them yet. With family, work, stress, and shifting interests, I didn’t finish detailing these shells nor the underframes and they are currently sitting in my closet. I now plan to finish them in the near future as I’ve reorganized my workbench (and myself) and regularly schedule “hobby time”.

One more thought on Cab Cars: The Cabbage

Amtrak’s excess fleet of F40s, some of them had the motors removed, and two roll-up doors cut in the side. They became Cab-baggage cars, or Cabbages. Likely, you can find an old Bachmann Plus or Trainman f40, cut a hole in the side, put a piece of styrene in the back, and paint the sucker.

Coleslaw?

I did not yet see that. However it does look like an interesting read.

I’ll go check it out right now!
