I have recently been on a kick to build pre-1952 cars and trucks. I recently compleated a concor Ford model A pannel van, and now I have started a jordan minitures kit for a Ford model A truck.
can anyone tell me anymore manufactures that make good automobile kits?
Athearn, Busch, Mini Metals, Model Power, Williams, Wiking, and a Canadian Co that I can’t recall for starters!! Go to www.walthers.com and put HO vehicles in the search box - you can then go to advance search - you’ll come up with hundreds of models!![:)]
Most model vehicles come preassembled. Sylvan makes a wonderful line of vehicle kits, many or most of which are models of mid-twentieth century prototypes.
Sylvan Models http://www.isp.ca/Sylvan/ make a range of resin automobile and truck kits for the scale and period that interests you. I mainly buy from them detail parts for Marine modeling, but I noticed when I placed an order with them today thay have a pretty perky 1937 Willys Coupe` available so I added that to my order.
I have just checked inside the bin where I keep my HO vehicle kits and here are the manufactueres that are represented there. In the past, I bought only kits because they were what was available in the type of vehicles I wanted to model - pre-1950. Most of the built-up stuff was either too toy like or well outside my era or were models of foreign prototypes. This is not so true today of course. Besides kits were quite cheap at the time. Now I have dozens of them and I’m too old, tired and lazy to build them all[zzz][]
In the names and contact details I have listed below there are only physical addresses. All these kits I bought before the internet was as all encompasing as it is today. Some of these folks may be out of business or have moved on to do other things so please do a Google type search and see what there is that’s current. As mentioned in earlier posts, Walthers and eBay are probably a good way now to determine what is available without wasting hours looking for companies that may not even exist anymore.

Sheepscot Scale Products makes a line of trucks and truck bodies from 30s to 60s. George Barrett sells through hobby shops and direct. Send him an e-mail about what you want or if you have questions.
Alloy Forms is part of JAKS Industries. Their white metal kits of 40’s and 50’s vehicles are reasonably priced. If you take your time with them, they will produce excellent models.
It is my understanding that Greg’s Garage is out of business. If anyone knows different please let me know. I have many of their cars and would like more.
There’s a lot of new castings since my last foray into their catalog and now they offer their kits built.
Thank goodness I have about enough stuff now to be tempted to buy anymore - I’m too broke anyway. If I could get the old woman to flick me the ocassional saw buck or two I could buy some. Now, that '38 Olds looks tempting[:-,]
Wow, this research stuff sure pays off every once in a while.
