Can anyone recommend a good online source for diesel detail parts. A discount is always nice, but more importantly a well stocked shop that can ship quickly. The usual suspects, Detail Associates, Details West, Cannon, etc.

Have you ordered from discounttrainsonline? They show lots of stuff, but most of it says “ships in 5 days” which leads me to believe they have to get it from somewhere else, which could mean backorder.
I frequently shop from this online store: http://www.1stplacehobbies.com/default.asp. They ship in a timely manner (good price for it too) and usually have most of the details I need in stock. If you already know the Walthers item number, you can plug it into the provided search box they have. This feature makes it easy to shop using item numbers from the Walthers catalog or website.

They have a lot of New England Decals, and a huge selection of detail parts. There is a hand signed “Thank You” on your order form which is included in the box when it arrives, which really makes you feel like your dealing with people and not technology.

Nice thing about Walthers is you can see what’s in stock.
Caboose Hobbies is huge and has virtually every detail part ever produced, they ship promptly too. They have a 15% sale off their already discounted prices for fathers day.
