Which vendor made or makes high quality GG-1’s
Broadway Limited, if you can find any.

Broadway Limited made a couple runs of a good quality GG-1, but from what I’ve seen from a quick search, they’re pretty rare.
Trix also made a GG-1. I’ve never heard bad things about anything from Trix (except the small drivers on their Big Boy), so that may be the best one to go with (wallet permitting). The Trix GG-1 was also available in a 3-rail AC version from Marklin (there is actually such a thing in HO![:O]).
IHC imported a good GG-1 for a long time. It has an all plastic construction and doesn’t have the detail that the Trix and BLI models do. Mine still looks pretty decent though, and it’s a very smooth runner with its twelve wheel drive and two motors.
Rivarossi’s old GG-1 has decent detail, but it only has six wheel drive. A short lived company called Pemco also made a GG-1 (which is where IHC’s GG-1 shell came from) that copied Rivarossi’s shell, but the Rivarossi had a better drive.
Other GG-1s have been made by Varney, Penn Line, and Tyco, but none of them are scale models. In fact, the Tyco GG-1 is completely fantasy!
I hope that answers your question![:D]
I could be wrong, but didn’t MTH get the BLI tooling for the GG1 along with about six other models? And if so, I would guess they are on the market, although availability remains to be determined. I got one of the last, if not the very last, Trix GG1’s last summer. Very nice, good sound, great performance…a keeper like all Trix HO models.
